Approval for Purchase of Fertilizer Worth 300 Crore Taka in Cabinet Meeting
The government has approved the purchase of 70,000 metric tons of fertilizer from Saudi Arabia and Russia for the fiscal year 2024-25 through a national agreement. The total expenditure will amount to 3,440,380,000 Taka. This includes 40,000 metric tons of DAP and 30,000 metric tons of MOP fertilizer.
On Wednesday (July 3), a government procurement-related committee meeting was chaired by Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali.
At the end of the meeting, Secretary of the Coordination and Reform Division of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mo. Mahmudul Hoque Khan, informed journalists that under the framework of a signed agreement between the Saudi Arabian government-owned 'Ma'aden' and Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), 40,000 metric tons of DAP fertilizer will be imported in the seventh batch. Its purchase cost has been set at 2,468,560,000 Taka. The price per metric ton of fertilizer will be 523 US dollars, up from the previous 519 US dollars.
He further stated that under another proposal, a national-level agreement has been approved for the purchase of 30,000 metric tons of MOP fertilizer between Russia's JSC Economic Corporation and BADC. This will incur an expenditure of 975,270,000 Taka. The price per metric ton of MOP fertilizer will be 275.50 US dollars, down from the previous 289.75 US dollars
