Meeting Held for Special Benefits in Oil Imports from Saudi Arabia
Dhaka, Bangladesh: A meeting was held between the Foreign Ministers of both countries to enhance Saudi Arabia's investments in Bangladesh's commerce and secure special benefits in oil imports.
On Monday (July 1st), this meeting took place in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Led by Bangladesh's Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, discussions focused on Saudi investments in Bangladesh's special economic zones and offshore banking arrangements. Additionally, there was emphasis on accelerating the activities of the Joint Business Council (JBC) to enhance commercial relations between the two countries.
The discussion also covered Saudi Arabia's provision of special facilities for oil imports to Bangladesh. Saudi Arabia expressed gratitude for Bangladesh's employment opportunities, with 3 million Bangladeshis currently employed there. Minister Hasan Mahmud also requested Saudi cooperation in forming a joint task force to address worker welfare issues and enhance transparency in repatriating Bangladeshi nationals.
Accompanied by Salman F Rahman, Private Industry and Investment Advisor to the Prime Minister, a Bangladesh delegation led by Dr. Hasan Mahmud met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan. They also emphasized the unity efforts of the Muslim world against Israel's atrocities during this two-hour meeting.
During the meeting, they also discussed Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Muhammad bin Salman's upcoming visit to Bangladesh and agreed on joint initiatives to celebrate the golden jubilee of bilateral relations next year. They also decided to elevate the Bangladesh-Saudi Joint Commission meeting ministerial level to further strengthen bilateral ties.
