Hezbollah sets new conditions to stop war with Israel
The Lebanese armed group Hezbollah has set new conditions to halt the war with Israel. Sheikh Naim Qassem, the second highest leader of the group, laid out these conditions in an interview with the news agency AP on Tuesday (July 2).
Naim Qassem stated that Hezbollah will cease attacks on Israel if a ceasefire is achieved in Gaza.
He said,
If Israel halts its military operations and completely withdraws from Gaza without an official ceasefire agreement, then the clashes on the Lebanon-Israel border will be comparatively less.
This top Hezbollah leader expressed his belief that Israel does not currently have the capability to start a full-scale war in Lebanon, nor has it made such a decision.
At the same time, he warned,
If Israel intends to start even limited conflicts in Lebanon, Tel Aviv should not expect the war to remain limited.
Naim Qassem further stated, ‘Israel can choose a limited, full-scale, or partial war, whatever it wants. But the country should not expect that our response and resistance will stay within the limits and rules set by Israel.’
It is noteworthy that after Israel started attacking the besieged Gaza Strip in Palestine on October 7 last year, Hezbollah became embroiled in a war with the Israeli army on the Lebanon-Israel border. The armed group’s use of modern weapons, anti-armor, precision missiles, or rockets has already put considerable pressure on Israel.
