Kader Criticizes Media Coverage of Awami League's Anniversary
Awami League General Secretary, Obaidul Quader, has expressed frustration over the media's selective coverage. He pointed out that criticisms against Tarique Rahman often go unreported. "When I speak about Tarique Rahman's corruption, it doesn't appear in the papers the next day. This is very unfortunate," he remarked.
Quader noted that the primary focus of their recent discussion was the 75th platinum anniversary of the Awami League. "There wasn't a single word about it in the newspapers. Instead, the headlines were all about Aziz and Benazir. This shouldn't be the case," he stated.
Speaking at a meeting with metropolitan and district leaders, mayors, and members of parliament at the Awami League President's political office in Dhanmondi on Monday afternoon, Quader highlighted the issue.
He emphasized that the focus of their discussion was the party's anniversary. "Yet, repeatedly, the media brings in Aziz and Benazir. It's almost as if they feature every time I say something. But when I speak against Tarique Rahman, it doesn't get covered. This is truly unfortunate," he lamented.
Regarding the Prime Minister's visit to India, Quader said that upon her return, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would address the media. He mentioned that important meetings were being held during the visit, and detailed outcomes would be shared later.
Among those present at the meeting were Awami League Presidium Member Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Organizing Secretaries BM Mozammel Haque and Mirza Azam, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat, Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam, Executive Member Saeed Khokon, and Dhaka-10 MP Ferdous Ahmed.
Additionally, Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League President Abu Ahmed Mannafi, General Secretary Humayun Kabir, Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League President Sheikh Bazlur Rahman, and Jubo League General Secretary Mainul Hossain Chowdhury Nikhil were also in attendance
