The Son of a Security Guard Becomes Odisha's Chief Minister
Mohammed Charan Majhi from the BJP is set to become the next Chief Minister of Odisha. He will be sworn in tomorrow, Wednesday, June 12, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending the ceremony.
On Tuesday, June 11, the BJP Legislative Assembly party nominated the four-time winning legislator as the leader of the BJP parliamentary party and the next Chief Minister of the state, reported NDTV.
The report mentioned that after 24 years, the BJP has ended the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) rule. Mohan Charan Majhi is set to succeed Naveen Patnaik as Odisha's next Chief Minister. He will be sworn in on Wednesday. Additionally, Kanakvardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida have been announced as the state's Deputy Chief Ministers.
Majhi was born in Raikala village in the Keonjhar district and is the son of a security guard.
From 1997 to mid-2000, Majhi served as the head of his village. Before being elected as the legislator from Keonjhar in 2000, he was the General Secretary of the BJP Odisha ST (Scheduled Tribe) Morcha.
At 52 years old, Majhi has won his seat four times, including in this year's legislative assembly election, where he secured victory by a margin of 11,577 votes.
Majhi is known for his organizational skills and also served as the Chief Whip of the outgoing Odisha Legislative Assembly.
After being nominated as Chief Minister, Majhi said, "Due to the blessings of Lord Jagannath, the BJP has achieved a majority in Odisha and is going to form the government in the state. I want to thank the 45 million residents of Odisha who voted for this change
