Awami League Now Belongs to Aziz-Benazir: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has stated that the current Awami League is no longer the same as it used to be; it has now become the Awami League of Aziz-Benazir. He emphasized the need to topple the government through a movement.

He made these remarks on Tuesday, June 11, while speaking at a seminar organized by Dhaka Divisional BNP at Munnu City in Manikganj.

The BNP Secretary General accused the ruling party of destroying the electoral system. He claimed that they are conducting elections without the participation of the public, thereby depriving them of their voting rights. "An election in which the people of the country do not participate is not an election," he asserted.

Calling for a struggle to restore the electoral system, Fakhrul said, "Today, we must fight against the Awami League. They have seized power by using the state apparatus. The Awami League has distanced itself from the people."

Criticizing the ruling party for corruption and plundering, he remarked that the country's economy is heading towards disaster. He argued that the ruling party is unwilling to admit this. He pointed out that most of the mega projects are being funded by China, with government officials allegedly taking a 5 to 10 percent commission.

Additionally, Fakhrul accused that a portion of the digital transaction platform Nagad's revenue is being diverted abroad to a specific individual as a commission
