Where is the cyclone 'Remal', which originated as a deep depression, located now?
Despite the impact of cyclone 'Remal' being felt for a day, it hasn't weakened yet. On Tuesday morning, rains continue to pour intermittently with gusty winds. The weather office has informed that 'Remal' has now transformed into a low-pressure area and is currently positioned over Manikganj and surrounding areas.
Director of the weather office, Mr. Azizur Rahman, has informed the media that after wreaking havoc in the upland areas, 'Remal' sped towards Jashore towards Dhaka even before dawn on Monday. Subsequently, it is becoming weaker from a severe cyclone to a deep depression, residing in lower atmospheric pressure.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department's latest update at midnight on Monday (May 27), the deep depression is hovering over Bangladesh and has moved 15 kilometers in the last 6 hours towards the east-northeast direction. By midnight on the 27th, it was located 190 kilometers north and northeast of Mongla, 120 kilometers west of Srimangal, and 30 kilometers northeast of Dhaka.
The organization reports that the storm will continue towards the northeast of the Bangladesh-India border via Mymensingh.
Dr. Bishwajit Nath, a professor of Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Chittagong, is monitoring 'Remal' with Japanese satellites. He mentioned that the deep depression has weakened and is currently in the form of a low-pressure system in Manikganj and the surrounding areas, taking on a shape of lower pressure. It may further advance towards the northeast direction, gradually becoming weaker.
Satellite imagery shows the low-pressure system (part of the cyclone) moving towards Meghalaya in India.
