Hezbollah fires 100 'Katyusha' rockets at Israel in response to commander’s killing
Lebanese armed group Hezbollah has fired 100 Katyusha rockets at various targets in Israel. The Iran-backed organization claimed that the attack was carried out on Wednesday (July 3).
A report by Al Jazeera stated that 100 rockets were fired at two locations in Israel-occupied Golan Heights as retaliation for the killing of a senior commander.
Hezbollah said its fighters targeted the Nafah barracks of the Israeli Golan Division Headquarters and the Keila barracks of the Air and Missile Defense Headquarters.
Earlier on Wednesday, an Israeli attack killed a senior Hezbollah commander in southern Lebanon. AFP reported this information, citing multiple Hezbollah sources and Lebanese media.
The report said an Israeli attack on a car in the city of Tyre killed a Hezbollah commander. He was in charge of one of the three sectors in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli military has also confirmed the death of the Hezbollah commander. In a statement, Hezbollah said Commander Mohammad Nameh Nasser, also known as Haj Abu Nameh, was killed. The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said he was the third senior Hezbollah commander killed in nearly nine months of fighting.
It is noteworthy that after the attack on the besieged Gaza Strip in Palestine on October 7 last year, Hezbollah became embroiled in a war with the Israeli army on the Lebanon-Israel border. The armed group’s use of modern weapons, anti-armor, precision missiles, or rockets has already put considerable pressure on Israel
