If the number of rak'ahs for Eid prayer is missed, how should one perform it?

The sighting of the Shawwal moon is Eid al-Fitr. Tonight, the sky will be adorned with the curved moon of Shawwal. The end will bring the blessings, forgiveness, and salvation of the holy Ramadan. Thursday will mark the celebration of Eid al-Fitr. The main action on Eid day is the prayer. The day begins with the performance of two obligatory rak'ahs.

Like other obligatory prayers, Eid prayer can also consist of one or two rak'ahs. What should you do when performing the missed prayer?

If at the time of reciting Quranic verses in the first rak'ah, one becomes a participant in the prayer, they should start by saying the Takbir, Tahrima, and three additional Takbirs in accordance with the Imam. If one reaches the bowing before the Imam, they can also bow with extra Takbirs.

If one cannot reach the bowing position after saying the extra Takbirs while standing, they should proceed to the bowing position after saying only the Takbir of Tahrima. They should not raise their hands during the bowing and say the extra Takbirs. If time permits, they should recite the Tasbih of Ruku.

If one participates alongside the Imam in the second rak'ah, after the Imam offers the Salaam, they should stand and recite the Surah-Keraat before proceeding to the bowing position and say the additional Takbirs before that.

Therefore, in the case of performing the missed first rak'ah, one should say the extra Takbirs before the bowing position similar to the second rak'ah. If one becomes a participant in the congregation after the bowing in the second rak'ah or after the Tashahhud, what should they do?

In this case, the individual should say the extra Takbirs immediately after the Imam offers Salaam. After reciting the Surah-Keraat in the second rak'ah, they should say the extra Takbir before concluding the prayer.

Performing the rak'ahs in Eid prayer should be done smoothly and reverently. This helps individuals avoid any discomfort. Even if there is doubt about whether the entire month's worship has been accepted, don't worry. The acceptance of the worship for the whole month is not affected by missing the rak'ahs of this prayer. May Allah accept the efforts of all fasting individuals with His mercy, forgiveness, and salvation.
