Trump's Conviction Proves No One is Above the Law: Biden
U.S. President Joe Biden has stated that the criminal conviction of Donald Trump proves that no one is above the law, which is a fundamental principle of the United States.
On Friday, May 31, at the White House, Biden said that after a five-week trial, a unanimous verdict was reached by a 12-member jury based on evidence and testimony. He emphasized that Donald Trump was given every opportunity to defend himself. The jury consisted of 12 Americans who represented millions of their fellow citizens.
Biden also mentioned that Trump still has the opportunity to appeal the verdict because that is how the American justice system works.
Referring to comments made by Trump and his supporters, Biden said, "Our justice system has survived for nearly 250 years, and it is literally the foundation of America."
Meanwhile, on Friday in New York, Trump reiterated his claim that he was convicted because of directives from Biden and his associates.
When journalists asked Biden about his alleged role in Trump's conviction, Biden smiled and said, "I didn't realize I had that much power."
Biden further stated that he is not worried about facing similar accusations if he were out of office because he knows he has done nothing wrong.
Former President Donald Trump was convicted in a case involving the concealment of information in business records. A New York court delivered the verdict on Thursday.
The case alleged that Trump paid $130,000 in hush money to Stormy Daniels in 2006 to keep quiet about their sexual relationship. However, this transaction was not properly documented in business records.
