Indian Student Nitisha Missing for a Week in the United States

Another incident of a missing Indian student has occurred in the United States. The missing student is Nitisha Kandula, a student at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). Nitisha was reported missing on May 28.

On Monday, June 3, NDTV reported that the police had announced the disappearance of the 23-year-old student from California. The police have sought public assistance in locating her.

CSUSB Police Chief John Gutierrez posted on social media platform X on Sunday, June 2, stating that Nitisha was last seen in Los Angeles, and a missing person report was filed on May 30.

The police have also posted advertisements on social media to aid in the search for her.

According to a police statement, Nitisha Kandula is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds, and has black hair and eyes. She was possibly driving a 2021 Toyota Corolla with a California license plate, although the color of the car is unknown.

The police have requested anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact the authorities. They have provided the CSUSB Police Department's contact number: (909) 538-7777.

Last month, another Indian student, 26-year-old Rupesh Chandra Chintakind, went missing in Chicago and has yet to be found.

Earlier, at the beginning of April, the body of an Indian student was recovered in Cleveland. The student, Mohammad Abdul Arafat, aged 25, had been missing since March. He had traveled to the United States in May last year to pursue a master’s degree in IT at Cleveland University.

In March of this year, 34-year-old trained classical dancer Amarnath Ghosh was shot and killed in St. Louis, Missouri.

On February 5, another 23-year-old Indian-American student from Purdue University, Sameer Kamath, was found dead in a nature reserve in Indiana.
