After performing Ghusl, is it necessary to renew the Wudu?
Performing Wudu at the beginning of Ghusl is a Sunnah. This Wudu is sufficient. It is not necessary to renew the Wudu again. This is because during Ghusl, the obligations of Wudu are fulfilled, such as washing the face, both hands, wiping the head, and washing the feet.
Since these parts of Wudu are covered during Ghusl, there is no need to renew the Wudu after Ghusl unless a reason is found for the invalidation of the Wudu after Ghusl. As described by Ummul Momineen Ayesha Siddiqa (RA), the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) did not perform a new Wudu after Ghusl.
Abdullah ibn Umar (RA) was asked about renewing Wudu after Ghusl, and he responded by asking if Ghusl itself includes a broader scope of Wudu.
It is observed that many people perform the complete Wudu after finishing Ghusl. When asked why they perform Wudu again, they say, "To perform Salah. This means for standing in prayers, performing Ghusl is not sufficient. Therefore, they renew Wudu for Salah.
Some jurists mention 'wastage of water' in relation to renewing Wudu after Ghusl. Some consider it against the Sunnah. However, if someone wishes, they can renew Wudu before Salah. In this case, they will earn the reward of a recommended act. (Fatwa Alamgiri, vol. 1, page 14)
