Eid ul-Adha Date Announced in Malaysia
Malaysia has announced the date for the celebration of Eid ul-Adha. The country’s Muslims will observe the holiday on Monday, June 17. This announcement was broadcast on national radio and television on Friday night, June 7. According to the announcement, the Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah will begin in Malaysia on Saturday, June 8, with Eid ul-Adha being celebrated on Monday, June 17.
On Thursday, June 6, the moon marking the beginning of the holy month of Dhul-Hijjah was sighted in Saudi Arabia. As a result, the first day of Dhul-Hijjah in Saudi Arabia was Friday, June 7, and Eid ul-Adha will be celebrated there on Sunday, June 16.
The Islamic calendar, which consists of 12 months, begins with the sighting of the moon. The sighting of the moon in Dhul-Hijjah determines the dates for Hajj and Eid ul-Adha. Eid ul-Adha is observed on the 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah, while the Day of Arafah is observed on the 9th day.
Eid ul-Adha is the second major festival for Muslims and is known as the Festival of Sacrifice. On this day, Muslims around the world perform the ritual of animal sacrifice. Additionally, on the Day of Arafah, Muslims performing Hajj gather in the plain of Arafat, located outside Mecca.
