Modi Once Again Denies Full Cabinet Post to West Bengal
Narendra Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister of India for the third time, alongside 72 others who took the oath as ministers and junior ministers.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Sunday evening at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi. This marks the beginning of Modi's third consecutive term, extending his government for another five years after a decade in power.
Following Modi, Rajnath Singh, and Amit Shah were the first to take the oath. Shah, who previously served as the Union Home Minister, is likely to retain that portfolio. Nitin Gadkari, one of the top performers in Modi's administration, was the fourth to take the oath, followed by BJP National President JP Nadda as the fifth.
The last full cabinet minister to be sworn in was CR Patil, the President of Gujarat BJP. With his swearing-in, the oath-taking for full cabinet ministers concluded, leading to the swearing-in of ministers of state with independent charge. This means that once again, the BJP from West Bengal did not get a full cabinet minister.
Shantanu Thakur, who previously served as a minister of state, took the oath again for the same position. Despite rumors on Sunday morning suggesting that he might be promoted to a full minister, this did not materialize.
