Hezbollah Downs Another Israeli Drone
Hezbollah, the Islamic resistance movement in Lebanon, has claimed to have shot down an advanced Israeli drone that intruded into Lebanese airspace in the south.
In a statement, the group announced that its fighters used an air defense system on Monday to shoot down an Israeli Hermes-900 drone. The statement mentioned that the drone was carrying missiles intended for attacks in Lebanon.
Israeli military sources confirmed the incident, stating that the drone was shot down using a surface-to-air missile. The wreckage of the drone, which exploded mid-air, fell within Lebanese territory.
The medium-range Hermes-900 drone can fly up to 30,000 feet for a maximum duration of 36 hours and can carry up to 350 kilograms of armament.
This incident marks the third Hermes-900 drone that Hezbollah has downed in southern Lebanon, with two being destroyed in less than two weeks. Since the Gaza war began last October, Hezbollah has shot down five Israeli drones, damaging two others, one of which crashed inside Israel.
In addition to downing drones, Hezbollah has recently intensified drone attacks on Israeli military positions. Notably, last Thursday, Hezbollah fighters launched an anti-aircraft missile at an Israeli warplane for the first time. Source: Reuters
