The price of LP gas has decreased again
The new price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for May has been determined. It has been observed that the price of LPG has decreased for consumers once again. This month, the price of each 12 kg LPG cylinder has been set at Tk 1,393.
Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced the new price on Thursday (May 2). The institution has informed that the new price will be effective from 6 pm today.
BERC Chairman M. Nurul Amin stated that the price of each 12 kg LPG cylinder has been reduced from Tk 1,442 to Tk 1,393, a reduction of Tk 49.
LP gas prices had decreased in April after an increase for straight 8 months. In comparison to March, the price for consumers was set at Tk 1,442 for a 12 kg cylinder in April. Furthermore, in the last March, the price was increased by Tk 8 for a 12 kg cylinder, setting it at Tk 1,482. In February, it was raised by Tk 41 to Tk 1,474 and in January, it was increased by Tk 29 to Tk 1,433.
Additionally, BERC has also reduced the price of autogas. For May, the price has been set at Tk 63.92 per liter including all taxes.
In April, consumers were informed by BERC in a press release that the price of autogas, including all taxes, was set at Tk 66.21 per liter. In March, the price was set at Tk 68.5 per liter for consumers. Moreover, in February and January, the prices were set at Tk 67.68 and Tk 65.67 per liter respectively.
In a notice sent through mass media, BERC has stated that for May, the price of Saudi Aramco's propylene and butene has been announced at $580 and $585 per metric ton respectively. Considering the ratio of 35:65 for propylene and butene, the average Saudi Aramco price per metric ton of propylene and butene is determined to be $583.25. This calculation has been used to coordinate the prices of private LPG and autogas for consumers in May.
