Modi claims victory even before election results
The official announcement of the results of the Lok Sabha elections in India is underway. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems to be lagging behind the expected results. However, even before the announcement of the results, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has claimed victory for his alliance.
He delivered this speech on Tuesday (June 4th) at the BJP headquarters in Delhi.
In his speech, Prime Minister Modi said, "Our NDA alliance will form the government again." He expressed, "I am very, very happy today."
Modi added, "Today is the biggest victory in the world. This victory belongs to the Indians."
Thanking the party workers, he said, "You have done a great job fulfilling people's aspirations over the past decade, and I want to ensure that this work continues unabated in the future."
Praising India's democracy, the Prime Minister said, "All Indians are proud of this. At this moment of victory, I want to salute every voter in the country."
By Tuesday night, the Election Commission website has published the final results for 434 seats in the Lok Sabha elections in the country. Among these, the BJP has won 207 seats, while the main opposition party Congress has won 88 seats.
According to information on the website, the BJP is leading in 33 seats. The Congress is ahead in 20 seats. The Samajwadi Party (SP) is ahead in 5 seats. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress is ahead in 7 seats.
So far, it is certain from the results obtained that the BJP cannot come to power single-handedly. To form a government in the Lok Sabha, 272 seats are required. Although the BJP is ahead in some seats, the number of seats is less compared to what is needed.
