Argentines who may miss the Copa America
The Copa America is just around the corner. Starting from June 20, this event will unfold on US soil. However, the defending champions Argentina are yet to announce their squad. Nevertheless, rumors suggest that the absence of a few players is creating a buzz.
Among those who are causing concern for Argentina at the Copa America is German Pezzella. He sustained a muscle injury during a match in May while playing for Real Betis. This injury could sideline him for the tournament. ESPN journalist Lio Parodi speculates that Pezzella might not even make it to the 48th edition.
Copa America winner Pazzella is currently part of Argentina's provisional squad for the two friendly matches. If he fails to recover in time for the Copa, his spot might be filled by either Lucas Martinez or Leonardo Balerdi. Both players were listed in the squads for Ecuador and Guatemala friendlies.
Valentin Barco, who was exchanged for Bright and $10 million to Brighton in January, may also miss the Copa America. His absence has raised doubts, while Marcos Acuña is returning to full fitness. Due to injuries, Acuña missed most matches of the season but is now fully fit. Both Acuña and Barco are part of the squads for Ecuador and Guatemala friendlies.
